Slope Stability across the UK and Ireland.

With great pressure on development land, increasingly natural slopes are being cut into or over-steepened to increase developable area. Our proven drilling techniques we can install drilled soil nails onto existing or and newly cut slopes to aid the local or overall slope stability. Many of the man-made slopes in use today for highways, rail cutting and embankments are nearing the end of their useful life and are in need of some supplemental support.

Our drilling rigs are capable of drilling vertically or at any angle to a slope, enabling our optimised design solution to be addressed in each case, regardless of the restrictions on access available. Restricted access drilling rigs can be used in tight corners, but most situations can be address with the use of temporary berms or long reach machines.

The soil nailing can be supplemented by the addition of geotextile matting between the nails if vegetation is to be established, or steel mesh/sprayed concrete for steeper or high performance slopes. Slopes can be reinforced for either temporary works use during a project, or for permanent condtions at higher durability.

For more major slope stability problems, our geotechnical designers will assess the degree of the problem and design the optimum solution using any of our speciaist equipment. This may include:

Ground anchors and support beams/blocks

Piled retaining walls – with or without ground anchors

Large diameter Tripod Piles – using light boring equipment

Lime piles

Soil nailing
